This just in! An unprecedented wave of exciting cranberry events will be sweeping the nation this fall. First, fresh cranberries are bouncing back into your local markets… and in New York, the “Bogs Across America” tour hits Rockefeller Center on its way to Chicago and Los Angeles. See a cranberry bog bloom under the skyscrapers and talk with cranberry growers. Maybe catch a glimpse of a celebrity chef whipping up cranberry delights. Witness and contribute to the creation of the world’s biggest cranberry garland to benefit Second Harvest, the nation's largest charitable hunger-relief organization. Meet the “Bog Squad”, have your picture taken "in the bog" and receive some free holiday prints courtesy of Shutterfly, and take home product samples, new recipes and more.

 

Plus, we’ll soon be launching a brand new look for our web site. (Those knee-deep-in-the-bog growers you’ve seen on TV took a break from their harvesting duties to do some web appearances.) And we’re partnering with Scholastic and 10,000 elementary teachers across the country for a special Cranberry Curriculum. Cranberry Nut Bars

This fresh cranberry signature recipe carries the flag for all fresh cranberries as they parade their way back into your grocery store. Here they come!

Cranberry Nut Bars

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups Ocean Spray® Fresh or Frozen Cranberries
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch baking pan.

Beat eggs in a medium mixing bowl until thick. Gradually add sugar, beating until thoroughly blended. Stir in flour and melted butter; blend well. Add cranberries and walnuts, mixing gently just until combined. Spread evenly in pan.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool and cut into bars.

Makes 16 servings.

New York City, NY
Rockefeller Center (November 1st – 3rd)
Rockefeller Center is a complex of 19 commercial buildings between 48th and 51st Streets in New York, located in the center of Midtown Manhattan. Ocean Spray’s “Big Apple Bog” came to Rockefeller Center’s Channel Gardens in 2005 – this year, Ocean Spray is building a freestanding bog in front of 30 Rockefeller Plaza adjacent to the Today Show plaza. 

Chicago, IL
Tribune Building Pioneer Court (November 7th – 9th)
The Chicago Tribune building and Tower are located amidst the Magnificent Mile, on North Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. Outside Chicago’s landmark building in Pioneer Court, Ocean Spray will construct a 30 x 50 cranberry bog.

Los Angeles, CA
Hollywood & Highland Center (November 14th – 16th)
The Hollywood & Highland Center is among the most visited tourist destinations in Los Angeles and includes the Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Kodak Theatre, home to the Academy Awards.
