Go Red Love Potion


Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Ocean Spray® Cranberry Juice Cocktail
  • 1 ounce Absolut® Raspberri
  • Splash sweetened lime juice
  • Splash grenadine
  • Raspberry, garnish

Directions:

Shake all ingredients, except garnish, in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Drop raspberry into glass and serve. Makes 1 serving.

5 Simple Ways to Love Your Heart

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. Women who understand their risks of heart disease, and know the steps to prevent it, are better equipped to avert this serious—and mostly preventable—threat to their health.

Ocean Spray Cranberries is committed to helping women and their families live healthier lives. For 75 years, Ocean Spray has been researching the cranberry and our products to understand their role in maintaining total body health, including heart health. And we’re putting our money where our heart is: Ocean Spray will provide $250,000 in support of the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement during February 2006.

For you and for the women who are important in your life, take steps to love your heart—cherish it, protect it, nurture it. While you can’t change some of your risk factors for heart disease, such as age, race and heredity, you can take charge of other areas to help you live a longer, stronger life. The American Heart Association urges you to start today with small, simple actions like these:

  • Let each birthday remind you that it’s time for your yearly checkup and a talk with your doctor about how you can reduce your risk for heart disease.
  • Get up off the couch and march or jog in place for at least 30 minutes most days of the week – you can even do it while watching TV.
  • Quit smoking in four steps. Can’t go cold turkey? Cut the number of cigarettes you smoke each day in half; then cut that number in half; and so on until you are down to zero!
  • Cutting out just 200 to 300 calories a day – about one candy bar’s worth – can help you lose up to two pounds per week.
  • Keep healthy snacks such as raw veggies, dried fruits and whole grain cereals within reach. Remove unhealthy foods from the house or keep them hidden in the back of the pantry shelf. Also aim for a total intake of no more than 2,300 milligrams (about a teaspoon) of salt per day.
