Tucked in the northeast corner of Texas, halfway between Dallas and Texarkana, you’ll find a friendly little town of 15,000 that looks like it’s been clipped from the pages of a LIFE Magazine exposé on Main Street America.
You’ve found Sulphur Springs, Texas a small town with a self-proclaimed business-friendly attitude that’s home to “great parks and great people”. The local Native Americans found the bubbling springs first and camped nearby for generations – soon followed by settlers who took their lead. Before long the Pony Express was bringing the mail and a city was born.
Today, farms of all kinds line the roads in and out of Sulphur Springs and this bustling little city thrives as the seat of Hopkins County. Not far from the center of it all is Ocean Spray’s Sulphur Springs Beverage Plant – a 24/7 operation with 210,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space established in 1970 on 27 well-planned acres. Here 159 non-union employees – with an average of over 13 years of service – produce up to 18 million cases of famous beverages every year in one of Ocean Spray’s most celebrated facilities.
In 2008, the Sulphur Springs plant earned the Ocean Spray Quality, Customer Service, Safety and Waste awards! In 2007, the facility also earned Ocean Spray’s Safety Award for logging 750,000 straight worker-hours without a single lost-time accident or injury – a remarkable achievement that speaks to the exceptional performance of this very high-functioning facility.
